1  General / General Board / Re: where is eveyone on: February 16, 2019, 03:16:04 PM
I was a big fan of the forum prior to joining the Facebook page. One of the biggest issues for me is the difficulty of uploading photos, I’m not a computer whiz and even navigating the tapatalk app is confusing to me. Uploading photos on Facebook is a piece of cake, but I must admit, I use to love checking out the projects under construction. Another problem is the amount of so called gurus on the forum. There would be a handful of gurus on here who I really respect, there are others who have achieved guru status just through the volume and not the quality of their posts. Overall this is a great site and I have met a lot of like minded helpful enthusiasts here, so I will revisit it more often.
2  Galleries / Project Cars - FEs and FCs Under Construction / Re: Cams FC Resto on: March 26, 2017, 07:34:53 PM
Neil, in my car with the XY tank and the standard fuel filler position, the fuel used to piss out on acceleration especially if you had more than half a tank of fuel. If you check out the XY tank you'll notice that the top half of the tank sits a lot higher than the boot floor, that is so that it can accommodate the spare wheel recess. I'm only relaying my experience and I am sure that if Cam mounts the tank in the same fashion so that it doesn't sit too low, he will have the same problem.
3  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: seat belts on: March 23, 2017, 03:40:16 PM
I have a set of the flange plates that I bought from a seat belt mob in WA. They were featured in a Street Machine Magazine. I sure Nes posted it on his build. I am not using them now. They cost $150 which I thought was a bit rich, if you want them you can make me an offer.
Cheers Ole

I had an XY fuel tank in my sedan when I first got it. The only problem with it is if you use the original fuel filler position below the boot lid on the sedan, it pisses fuel out every time you take off because the tank sits a lot higher. We are using one in my sons Station wagon and I don't expect the same problem because the filler neck is a lot higher and on the side. It's worth the effort though.
5  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: radio fascia wanted on: March 10, 2017, 05:57:02 PM
Phil, I have a complete Air Chief radio that is in good condition apart from the speaker which has a rip in it. I also have another one that is suitable for parts. They're not push button radios unfortunately. I am in Mawson Lakes.
Cheers Ole
6  General / General Board / Re: Member Poll and comments on: December 20, 2016, 10:02:22 AM
My biggest issue has always been the loading of photos. I'm not that tech savvy but it is a piece of cake to add photos to face book compared to the forum. I have always enjoyed looking at projects in the build and would have liked to start my own threads for my 2 projects, but I've never been able to get my head around the process.
Having a restricted area for club members only is also restrictive and a bit elitist. Not everyone wants to be a member of a car club because of the bitchiness and back stabbing or they may be just time poor, so lifting that restriction would be good.
The Guru status is also a BS status symbol. Some members add a comment to every post just to achieve that status. There are a handful of gurus on the forum that I respect and would seek their advice, the others just demean the title.
I think the number of categories is fine, they are well defined and easy to navigate.
Thanks for the opportunity to contribute. I, like a lot of others, use to check in to the forum multiple times a day, but it has dropped off since joining Facebook. I would like to see it regain its relevance.
Cheers Ole
7  General / General Board / Re: Identify bucket seats on: May 02, 2016, 04:00:24 PM
They are early Renault seats. Have fitted a few pairs to FC's in the past and have a pair for my sons FC Wagon project. They are comfortable and suit the style of early Holdens in my opinion.

The ute is looking really good Wayne you must be proud. You mentioned that the driver's window needs adjusting. If you don't mind me asking, what electric window mechanisms did you use?

Regards Ole.

Are you going to have it shortened to suit a HR front end. If you are I have one already done.
14  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Small Block Chev Vin body style code on: July 26, 2015, 06:01:19 PM
Deano, why are you so interested in what the motor came out of? You already know the year of manufacture and what models that type of 327 was fitted to during that year. It's not like you are putting it into a numbers matching restoration or the like. I, like yourself, am fitting a small journal 327 into my FC, and whatever the motor came out of is irrelevant to my project. Each to their own I guess, I'm just curious as to your obsession. Regards Ole.

It's great to see that there is still this level of craftsmanship out there, and also pleasing to know that there are people out there willing to spend the money to achieve this quality of restoration.

Looking good David, you must be pleased with what you found after the sandblasting. Who did you get the radiator from, it looks impressive.
Cheers Ole.
17  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: 58 fe special for sale on: March 12, 2015, 09:06:53 AM
I agree with your original honest opinion Fink, especially now having seen the photos. I don't believe your post was disrespectful or "smart arse", just an informed opinion from someone who has been dealing with early Holdens for a long time.
Cheers Ole.

Great photos and great memories Trevor, thanks for sharing. You really have to admire the can do attitude of the earlier generation "I think I'll repaint the car dear, I think I'll build a caravan dear" You've got to love it!
Cheers Ole.
