You're right Deano, it not how good the top coat is, it's the prep work that's the key methodical prep work results in a great finish, sloppy prep work translates to breakdown in the finish later on. Long term paint finish comes from quality beginings. Regards Jim

I've also got a real good pair of rear door skins, Ithought I had a pair of fronts but when I took them out of the shed, one was a rear and the other had been used as a rats toilet, don't know if it can be saved it has pretty bad pitting from rats piss so I'll have to see how it cleans up. Jim

Maybe you could try some of the old archives from papers or see if anybody can find any more photos of the cabs, but like Ken and the others have said bring it back to how it looked back then dots and all. You have a peice of history with you so to have it back the way it was would be fantastic, not only for you but for everyone else who can remember back that far. Also the fact that it is one of the smaller cab cos. it is even more rare, to have found a car like this with all the papers would only come along once in a life time, mate you are truely blessed. Deano, you would have to drill out each spot weld and then work the lip up with a whole lot of care so you don't damage the door or the lip. I would think the easyest way would be to grind down the edge of the door skin, do the repairs and weld it back up. Your other option would be to do a 1/2 skin replacement or cut and fold a replacement section. Regards Jim

Neil, I had a look at mine this afternoon, I'm going to mount it near the lh hinge there looks as if there's enough room although I'll have to make up a bracket to keep it off the hinge. I also did the washer posts today, I used a straight connector barb instead of the 't' peice used on the fb/ek site. I put an 1/8in. bit in my drill press and carefully reamed it out(took a few goes) end result is a full length adaptor so the hose will have more grip when installed (just had to trim off the centre block). Regards Jim
