81  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Wheel numbers on: January 14, 2014, 05:08:04 AM
As a bit of a guide, I paid $135.00 each for the Maxxis tyres that are on my wagon. (205/60).The rims came on a parts car. They were chrome, but in a bad way. I'm guessing they have been re-manufactured at some stage. I had them sandblasted & painted. I was going to measure the offset for you, but those hubcaps are a bugger to get off. Unless your car is lowered, you should have some clearance.

Thanks for that info. A mate put the motor in, so I'm guessing he didn't have it earthed.

Doesn't seem to be Dj. Haven't had a load in, but all looks good. These came off an FE sedan with 185's on them. They were a bit narrow. The wheels are 7 inch Torana with 205/60's.

Well, it is out of the shed. A bit tight out of 2nd gear, so some adjustments needed. Some interior to do & tidy up some wiring issues. Looking forward to Grey Pride in Berrima.

85  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Wiper motor wiring. on: January 13, 2014, 09:31:18 PM
I have an electrical question. I have an electric switch in my 58 wagon for the wipers with 2 wires. On the ohm meter it is good. On the wiper motor ( not sure what model) I have 2 tabs for wires. One says Battery, the other, switch. I am wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as far as what goes where. There doesn't seem to be an earth point. Any combination I have done seems to power up the whole wiper motor, casing and all . Are these earthed through the body?  Thanks in advance, Dave.

White goes to brake switch. Pink & violet are rear blinkers. the two blue are front. yellow, power in. another pink from ing to flasher can. I am sorting mine out now. Doing some re-wiring as I have added separate blinkers to the rear of my 58. Forgot to mention, two other blues are for dash lights. Dave

Good work Wayne. I have left the towbar on my wagon to one day live the dream. Wink

Some sort of joint venture sounds a good thing. There used to be Commodore/Lexcen, Camry/Apollo. The Ford teretory Could be in the mix, along with some of the Holden utes & special vehicles. A name could be tricky.  There will NEVER be a great china wall in my shed.

NES, did I say something wrong?, didn't realize mentioning earlybitz would touch a nerve.

Those quad cams are turning up in a few projects. Saw one that looked good in a HT ute a few weeks ago. always good to see a truck getting a makeover.(whatever the breed).

It never takes long for wasps to move in on anything sitting around out west. That sticker is interesting, is it in the cab?

The wide ones set it off nice, but you are right stewy, the fc hubcap took a bit of getting on (rubber mallett). Hopefully that means they wont fall off.

Here is a bit of an update.

Torana 7 inch rims with 205 tyres.

Just waiting on the rear quarter window rubbers & the rear door glass. Wiring & interior to do. Hope to be on the road for grey pride, Berrima.

I bought a set of mudguard bolts from a bloke on evilbay called earlybits. He supplied a rubber grommet type seal with the bolt.
