C
IG or
M
IG?
MIG, TIG, ARC or Oxy Welding done properly should be OK for engine mounts, assuming you are talking about the mounts on the crossmember.
If you are ever in doubt about welding stuff that needs to be safe, get a pro to do it.

Hi Guys.
CIG is the name of the old Australian gas company that used to make all the welding gear, it stands for Commonwealth Industrial Gases. One of the brand names for their equipment was Cigweld.
They have since been taken over by the pommy company BOC (British Oxygen Co.)

I agree with mal there, if all you need to do is engine mounts it is probably best to just get someone out and weld it, there are heaps of mobile welders, it will probably cost about $80-$120, you will need to have it all ready to go as most charge on a hourly rate and usually do a good job.
if your lucky you might be able to find someone who deals with cartons instead of cash, make sure they arent drunk when they weld your mounts.

There's an article here on welding, which suggests MIG would be the best option for the engine mounts, being structural.
It also states that TIG or Oxy Hammer welding is better for the outer panels.

Welding engine mounts to a car chassis or crossmember should be done with either M.I.G or Stick. It should only be done by a welder who knows what they are doing. You don't want it breaking in use or being knocked back by an inspector when trying to get through rego.
Don't forget fuel. If you welding around an engine, fuel blows up.
I believe BOC are being taken over by Lindie Gas.

Hi Guys.
It gets even more curious.
I believe that Linde Gas is owned by the French mob 'Air Liquide' & they are also taking over BOC.
I could be corrected on that however.
