1/4 vent window handle

Hi Forum,
It been a while since being on this forum as my FC has been in storage for 4 years ! , Finally the ol girl is back with me in the newly built garage !
SO ...Im embarking on a few little things that need doing , now that she sits within walking distance its much easier to get some momentum
One thing that is doing my head in and I've been stalking the forum and the internet with not much joy, the vent window handle on the passenger side had fallen off , but i cant for the life of figure out how to put it back on , i have NOS replacement handles with spring and button and pin , but i feel something has snapped of on the chrome window frame part , worst fear is having to get a whole new frame Assembly.
I haven't quite worked out how to put photos on hear yet , but if anyone has a photo of what it should look like or some advise , it would be great .
a little nervous as its definatley a security issue
Cheers
Anthony

Anthony,
Your worst fears are confirmed. The pivot for the quarter window handle has parted company from the window frame. It'll be in the old quarter window handle.
It is possible to braze or silver-solder the pivot back into the frame, but it requires total disassembly of the quarter window and frame and re-chroming. Not for the faint-hearted. I went through the whole business when I restored my FC.
Realistically your best option is to try finding a quarter window assembly complete with handle.

I believe these were available as a seperate part
They are riveted or staked to the frame
As has been mentioned though, you would need to careful if attemting to replace it with the glass in place

Zulu's photo is clearer than the parts catalogue.
The part is listed for FE, FC, FB, EK. However, the frame & the complete ventilator units appear specific for FE/FC.
I'd try for whole deal, glass & all.

As i was nervous about parking with vent window obviously open , i thought id give some Areldite epoxy adhesive to stick back on until i find a suitable replacement part 12. support 10.660 ( eeeek)
surprising to know this is working even under the natural strain of the locked vent , not a long term solution but at least i can take her out for drive.
