1  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Rear Spring Hanger Front Bracket Assembly Subframe Member (LH) on: February 05, 2012, 01:23:38 PM
Check out Slim's 'Wrecking FC Special' in the Parts For Sale section. If you scroll through to the photos, there's a pic of it from underneath. The bit you want looks ok.

Excellent! Thanks for that.
3  General / General Board / Re: Interstate Transport on: February 04, 2012, 03:45:51 PM
Thanks guys, I would go and get it myself if I could but the logistics are tricky. Does anyone know how to get in touch with Gazrat?

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to get a non-runner FC from Adelaide to Melbourne?

6  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Cut and shut on: January 23, 2012, 08:01:30 AM
Thanks everyone for your advice. I think I have a clearer (but no less scary) idea of what needs to be done!
7  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Cut and shut on: January 22, 2012, 08:13:52 AM
I guess what I am trying to determine is whether it is acceptable to cut through the A pillars rather than drill out scuttle/dash welds and whether the sills can be re-welded in one piece or does the inner have to go on then the outer.
8  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Cut and shut on: January 21, 2012, 10:39:30 AM
I am wondering about the feasibility of doing a cut and shut and would like some opinions.
I have one shell with a really good rear but stuffed front, i.e. almost non-existent subframe, inner and outer sills gone, front floors and underfloor bracing gone, rusty scuttle around vent, dash gone in the corners etc and another shell with an excellent subframe, firewall/dash and sills. Front floors need replacing but underfloor bracing is good. Rear of the car is not.
What I am wondering is, is it worth considering cutting the good front off, through the windscreen pillars, B pillars, through the floor at some point and along the edge where the inner sill meets the floor in the rear and graft it onto the good rear?
Or have I gone mad?
(Personally, I think that point was reached when I made the purchase!)
9  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Removing and re-using original sills on: January 19, 2012, 07:20:05 AM
I have a question about the feasibility of removing good condition, original inner and outer sills from a wreck as a unit and fitting them to my project.
Is this worth considering, given that I have been told the repro ones aren't a great fit?
10  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Fc Ute for sale $2500 on: May 21, 2010, 08:28:09 AM
FC ute for sale $2500.
It has a 186, celica 5 speed, HR front end with Torana discs and HR rear end (ratio unknown). The engine runs but will require a tune and a carby overhaul. It has fully recoed Torana calipers, new pads, new rear shoes and wheel cylinders.
The interior is missing the seat, hood lining, floor covering etc. The passenger door has no door trim.
Body condition: It does need rust repairs. It will require at a minimum: Trans. tunnel, front floors, outer sills, tailgate skin and spare tyre tailgate. There are various other areas of the body which will require patching, i.e. above the sills behind both doors, behind the rear window, around scuttle air vent, around the tailgate. Front subframe appears ok but the box section in front of the rear leaf springs needs replacing. The floor in the ute tub is very good; the only section definitely needing attention is between the petrol tank and spare tyre tailgate.
Other than a couple of shallow dents, the body is quite straight. The doors have a bit of rust along the bottoms of the outer skins and the passenger door has a couple of small holes on the bottom. The guards are quite good. The front bumper, grille, front guards, bonnet lock panel and rear window are out of the ute, but are included. Other than the interior, it is basically complete.
A spare HR disc front end is included in the price.
Please note that this is a project car and the above description is intended as a guide only. It does need work, possibly a full rebuild. As such it is offered for sale as is, where is (Geelong) without RWC or registration.

12  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: Reluctantly offered for sale: FC ute project $3000 firm. on: April 16, 2010, 10:30:10 AM
Deano,
I'll pm you now.
Clive, sorry, I don't have any hood bows either! I know a guy who has another ute and I'll see if he has them. Surely someone on this forum has some? As I mentioned in the heading, I am very reluctant to part with the ute, but have come to the realisation that it will be quite some time before I will be able to make any real progress on it. On that basis, I thought if someone was keen...
Everyone,
I have managed to get the brakes assembled and working. The car is driveable (sort of) but needs a battery, a good service, a seat and probably the carby overhauled. It's a 350 Holley, by the way.
13  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Reluctantly offered for sale: FC ute project $3000 firm. on: April 12, 2010, 04:13:16 PM
Due to growing demands in other areas (i.e. work, family, other projects etc.), which mean I am likely to make only limited progress on my FC ute for the foreseeable future, I have reluctantly decided to offer it for sale.
It has a 186, celica 5 speed, HR front end with Torana discs and HR rear end (ratio unknown). The engine runs but the ute is currently undergoing a brake rebuild so is not currently driveable. I have fully recoed Torana calipers, new pads, new rear shoes and wheel cylinders which I am yet to have a chance to fit.
The interior is missing the seat, hood lining, floor covering etc. The passenger door has no door trim.

Inspection is welcome but an appointment will need to be made as it is in a shed about 10ks from my house. If there is no interest, I am happy to keep it but it isn't going to do anyone any good just sitting there indefinitely.
14  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Bucket seat recommendations. on: April 11, 2010, 07:14:23 PM
Probably a bit more work than I was planning...
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'll keep them in mind whilst I am out hunting.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Yes, I saw the one on evilBay but its for a wagon, isn't it? I say this 'cos mine has no provision for a badge and this one seems to have a hole in it.
19  Technical Board / Modification Help / Bucket seat recommendations. on: March 29, 2010, 09:00:37 PM
I am thinking of fitting buckets to the ute (it has no seat atm) and was wondering which ones you would recommend?
