22  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Original Steering Wheel Restorations on: June 18, 2003, 04:46:44 AM
Slim, Hi bud.. I did mine as well. It was hard work by hand as mine had a lot of paint on it. I sanded it back to the light brown base(resin I think). Fill all cracks(on the wheel) with body filler. re sand. Take it to a spray painter and it should only cost about $30.00 to get it sprayed in 2 pak. Mine come up great,Good feel and look. Make sure you fill the gaps as otherwise you can get airbubbles. Sth.Penrith Smash in Batt street,Penrith did mine but I'm sure you would have a contact closer. You probably could do it with a sander but I wasn't game enough. Especially around the knobby grip bits on the rear of the wheel. Hope this helps ya. See ya soon Kev..

25  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / 1950's switch on: June 16, 2003, 05:37:02 AM
H everyone, I'm after an old electrical switch possibly 1950's for my dash for the fog lights I put on the FC. Open to suggestions (clean ones !!). I think there are ones for in the dash/under the dash or ones that screw into some sort of bracket ?.. If possible in good working condition. Many thanks Kev..
26  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: nasco deluxe sunshade  fitting on: June 16, 2003, 05:29:31 AM
Thanks GP,That probably explains a lot. Many people have had their cars since new or nearly new and they have self tappers used. The instructions from Nasco talk about using the Avlok nuts that 4 hammers mentioned. I got it on the car today thanks to the invaluable help of the PRES. Craig A. a bloody legend.I couldn't have done it without his analytical mind which made it seem easy. It's definately not going anywhere,we used the self tappers. Many thanks to all for the info and to craig for the help. Ta.. Kev.. Grin Grin Cheesy Wink Smiley Roll Eyes

28  Technical Board / Restoration Help / nasco deluxe sunshade  fitting on: June 15, 2003, 05:36:58 AM
Has anyone fitted a Nasco Deluxe sunshade. I want to put mine on by screwing it on but the original instructions refer to using Avlok nuts (Don't have) and I really don't want to remove the roof lining if possible. Has anyone done this, was there any problems, what size screws etc. Many thanks Kev.... Grin Grin Roll Eyes Kiss

39  General / General Board / Re: What is it with old Holden wrecking yards? on: May 20, 2003, 05:13:39 AM
What a crack up, $90.00 . Unbelievable isn't it. Now that doesn't even get you a decent spare part.... Lucky doesnt seem to cover it mate, your car is superb. Now people are realising just what classics these cars are. All the best , Kev.
40  General / General Board / Re: Buying Parts Unseen Through The Post???? on: April 20, 2003, 02:12:08 AM
I agree with the other guys, you will get caught eventually. I have gotten a lot of stuff off people on the internet. I have only been dissapointed once. Try and suss out good suppliers, 4 hammers and Slim are two good people I have gotten good stuff off in the past.Ken Mclean is another. If in doubt ask. I was warned about the guy that stiffed me but he was sure of what he had, when I got it it was nothing remotely like what he had described. Good luck. Most people are honest on this site. Regards Kev
