The Vic club are hosting a dinner at the Bentleigh club in Melbourne on the 19th of July (anniversary of the release of the FE).  Jack Rawnsley will be guest speaker from the Holden retirees club.  Jack is the last surviving engineer who brought back the FX prototype from the USA and is as sharp as a tack
He loves the FE and considers it to be one of Holden's greatest achievements.
He will talk for hours if we let him.
Holden representatives will also be there on the night with maybe a few surprises.
All are welcome to attend.  (Iknow you are saying "what on earth would I be doing in Melbourne on a Wednesday night in the middle of winter", but you never know do you)
FE's are especially invited to attend as they will be parked on the lawn area outside the meal area with the curtains open and spotlights on them during the talk.
Oh - FC's are sort of welcome too Grin and will be able to park on the lawn, but towards the back a bit   Roll Eyes
Details will be in the newsletter but others are invited to attend. Arrive at 6.30 for a &pm start.  meal cost is at normal club prices with a fixed menu

A group of NSW Club members are coming to Melbourne for this event.  All the transport has been arranged, but if anyone who lives in or near the Bentleigh area could suggest some cheap accommodation (pub or motel) that would be most appreciated.

Send me a PM if you've got any suggestions.

cheers

A couple of pictures of Jack Rawnsley, taken at the 2006 Holden retirees luncheon.
Jack is 95 years of age and is the last surviving Engineer who went to America to bring back the 48-215 prototypes, Jack will be speaking at the dinner on the 19th.

It's great the have our NSW brothers coming down to Melbourne for this special event. They might not want to go back to Sydney after this ?
Cheers and see you soon.

Assuming that there was even the remotest possibility such a ridiculous idea was to be considered, I think our wives might have something to say about it...
