Post by: Moon on February 04, 2009, 01:24:30 PM
Dunno if anyones seen these, but I was poking around on the net and came across this site. I have downloaded & saved about 10 clips so far, most with FE's in them but a couple with EK's & FB's as well. Just thought I'd let ya's know,
Cheers,
Moon.  ;)

one of 'em I downloaded was called "range of products" or something like that. It starts out with the "woman of the house" driving to the shops in an EK, she obviously wasn't used to those new fang-dangled things called INDICATORS because as she turns the corner she sticks her arm out the window to signal the turn!  :D :P

Indicators didn't immediately replace hand signal just because they were fitted to cars. Bear in mind there were a lot of cars on the road that didn't have indicators or 'trafficators' as they were known at the time, and years of ingrained habit by drivers.

It wasn't until significantly later in the 60s that use of just flashing light indicators was permitted and hand signals were no longer required.

cheers

PS: great ads though - thanks for linking 'em!

The first car I had was a 1954 VW.  The indicator was an "idiot arm coming out of the B pillar.  Next to useless.  Hand signals were more reliable.
