Help Huh

We started to put a 202 into our FC no2 which I purchased with a HR front end and HR steering fitted - hole cut in floor for gear change. The motor gearbox had been removed.

And that's where it stopped.   Huh Huh Huh

The motor and 3 speed box came out of a HQ

Problem 1 - The sump rests on the steering hence can't lower the motor into the mounts - what is the correct sump?

Problem 2 - The gear box mount sits further back then the x member fitted - any idea as to what type of box was originally fitted (5 speed celica/supra maybe?)

1. I used an EH sump from memory

2. Fire up the MIG and the grinder, I can see a custom X-member in your future  Grin

EH sump is correct.....don't forget to also get the EH oil pick up as well.

You may also need to change floor hump because the HQ 3 speed is a physically bigger box and will hit the floor before being able to sit straight to the tailshaft. ( just my 2 bobs worth)

Looks as though the floor hump has been replaced with a larger version - no floor cover panel over the transmission. The hole for the gear stick seems too far back for a standard 3 speed looks as if it would be under the bench seat (if it had one).

I'm starting to think this is an abandoned project and no motor has been fitted to the replaced front end - tell tale signs include a very bodggy brake set up  - rubber hose between the master cylinder hooked onto the old brake line, no reinforcement around the gear shifter hole.

Anyway we still reckon it is a good starting point - we will lift the engine back out this weekend (could not be bothered yesterday so put a brick across the front end to keep it off the steering and pushed her back into the shed - first slant red I've seen Grin ) and start from scratch. Mount a bare block with the gearbox and then set up a custom X-member as predicted by Glenn.

I'll take some pics and then ask heaps more questions.
