501  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Hood release cable bust!!! on: February 02, 2004, 11:28:24 PM
Hi Nick,
You should be able to get a replacement at any Holden dealer under part No. 3426525 for about $35. Where abouts are you? If you're in the Canberra area, I have 2 of these in stock.

Cheers,

Graham.
502  General / General Board / Re: I'll say one thing for Ford, they know retro on: January 29, 2004, 08:52:22 PM
That looks awesome, but I don't think you could go past "Eleanor" (Gone in 60 seconds). That would have to be the ultimate Mustang, and the ultimate dream car!

Did I just say that about a FFFFOORRDD!!!  Grin

Graham.

506  General / General Board / Re: Share you "Car Disaster" stories on: December 17, 2003, 08:45:33 PM
Well, there was this one time at band camp.........

Oops, wrong story!  I used to have an EH Wagon, and I seem to recall going through about 3 gearboxes in a week. One of them didn't even last long enough to get out of my street! Needless to say I was getting pretty quick at changing them over. I can't understand it though, I mean those 3 speed crash boxes are pretty tough (not), and I didn't drive the car very hard at all, honest. Just ask Richard and Alex. I've always been a very sedate driver!  Tongue Wink Grin

507  General / General Board / Re: I D this FC please. on: November 27, 2003, 08:36:00 PM
Hi guys,
If I remember correctly there was a wagon in this colour (from the Vic Club???) at the Sutton nationals in 95(??), complete with matching caravan. Ken can probably confirm this. It looked absolutely awesome with cravan in tow !!

Cheers,

Graham.
508  General / General Board / Re: New addition to the family. on: November 19, 2003, 08:30:31 PM
Congratulations Alex.

Can he say "NASCO" yet???
Surely that will be his first word??

All the best mate.

Graham.

Wow,
I'd wondered what was wrong with me. No doctor had been able to diagnose my problem, now I realise that I also have O.C.H.D. I bet quite a few of you guys on the forum also have it! But it's not like most disorders, this one actually makes you feel good. I wonder if it's contagious? We should spread it around as much as possible!  Wink Grin

510  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Vibration between 55 & 60MPH on: October 23, 2003, 04:39:04 AM
Hi guys,
Also in Tailshaft_Tim's repertoire is a little number called "How to get the back wheels 8 inches off the ground without using a jack". Ask him about his experiences, and I'm sure he'll share them with you. Replacement uni joints (and quite a few other bits!!) also fixed Tim's problem. Grin Grin Grin Grin

Graham,
For quick tailshaft removal techniques, ask Tailshaft_Tim for instructions. I've seen him remove his tailshaft in 2 seconds flat while doing about 80mph!!  Grin Grin

Hey Guys,
It was great to catch up with you all on the weekend. As Colin said, thanks for supporting our trivia night. Sorry I missed out on meeting some of you (e.g. Normd), I didn't realise you were there. maybe next time.

By the way, the first picture Alex posted of the yellow FJ Ute with caravan, is one of my old cars. I can't believe it still looks this good with 15 year old paint! I'm sorry that I sold it   Sad (that also goes for some of the other cars I've had, but I guess you can't keep 'em all).

Some great pics Alex!  Cheesy

515  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Rubber floor lining on: October 14, 2003, 07:31:10 PM
Yes I did add the speckle to mine and (thankfully) it turned out quite good. I practiced on the back of my old floormat first, to see how it went. Very importantly, clean the new floormat thoroughly before you start (from memory I scrubbed mine with prepsol). I then used about a 1" or 2" paintbrush, dipped it in the paint, held it upside down (bristles pointing up) and flicked it with my finger until I had the desired result. I was VERY nervous about stuffing it up, but as Richard said, it turned out very good.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Graham.

Hi guys,
As some of you already know (CraigA & RET) I had all the chromework on my FC done by Electroplating Technologies in Queanbeyan. I am VERY pleased  :Dwith the result. These guys care about the work they do. Yes it's expensive, but I don't care if I get the job done properly.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Graham.

Hi guys,
Craig makes a lot of sense here, because those of us in the know can confirm that FC's are definitely much better than FE's  Grin

Oops! Hope I haven't started something here Wink

Graham.
520  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Standard sized tyres on: September 23, 2003, 07:40:20 PM
Hi Brendan,
Don't know if you want whitewalls or not, but I bought some "Cooper" whitewalls from Antique tyre supplies at Heidelberg for my FC. They are reasonably priced and are quite a nice tyre to drive on. They might be worth a look anyway? I also found the staff very pleasant and helpful.

Hope this helps?

Cheers,

Graham.
