Hi All,

I need to buy a new battery for the FC.  Ideally I'd like one that doesn't look completely out of place.

Any ideas ?

Cheers
Peter.

Peter

Try Ariel Batteries in Melbourne. They rebuild old batteries and were able to supply a good look-alike for my FJ. It was posted up to me dry and I just had to get it filled with acid. They may be able to help. Tel: 03 9481 5731

Cheers......Ken

Thanks all.  I will followup with the battery supplier next week.

Next question, what battery cable does a late FC have ?

I don't have one in good nick.  Should it have the braided one to the block ?

I'm looking for a battery cable in good nick, plus the battery hold down angle bracket.   I have the 2 rod tie down thingo's.

Cheers
Peter.

Vintage Wiring do these. They're very responsive when you email them.

The retaining bracket shouldn't be too hard to come by.

Peter,

The earth strap is braided.
They're a bit hard to come by.  I got mine from
Globe Battery Sales & Service,
7 Davies Rd.,
Padstow     NSW
(02) 97733654

They were very co-operative on the phone.  And prompt service.

I ended using Ariel who are supplying the used hard rubber case.  We'll see how it looks when it arrives next week.  I haven't seen the rocket industries one, but would like to see a picture.

I visited jaycar but there braided cables were a bit too short.  I ended finding matson being a wholesaler of the earth strap in various lengths and ends.

http://www.matson.com.au/cable_copper.html

I ordered through one of their local retailers (battery world in SA).  Again until it arrives I won't know if they are any good.

Cheers
Peter.

Hi Lizard,

I missed your question, so sorry about the slow reply.

Price was $180 ex GST for a reco'd Hard Rubber Battery.  Ended up $220 delivered to Adelaide.   Add $10 or $20 for acid.

Unfortunately the first one was cracked when it was delivered, most likely due to being dropped by the post.

Ariel sent a replacement unit that didn't get damaged the 2nd time.  I'm not sure how many they have left.

Cheers
Peter.

You got the last one Peter. Apparently they are searching around overseas for some new ones that are similar in appearance. The 6 volt for the FJ isn't a bad copy so these might be worth a look if they can get any.
