Okay, that's probably long enough to allow for postage, and I've seen a few images posted on Facebook already anyhow. Here is the commemorative Grille Badge: And here it is next to Christmas Card: The inside of the card: ..and finally the back:

Hi all, I'll post a photo once Australia Post has had sufficient time to get them out to all our club members.
Don't want to spoil the surprise for those yet to receive it.

The design is bigger than the old grille badge, which didn't quite fit comfortably in an FC grille, but worked well with the thinner gaps of an FE grille. This one is big enough that it should be able to be affixed to either model with ease.
I'd like to thank Alex for his awesome artwork on the card that accompanies the badge. We're very lucky to have such a talented artist to call on for this kind of thing.
cheers RET

Thanks everyone for the additional info. I was right about it being the car from Grey Pride, but that's about it

I am 100% sure it's the same FC featured on the promo of Julia Zemiro's "Home Delivery" Which makes me wonder if the ABC have acquired it along the way, or have an arrangement with its owner. If the latter, it's a very accommodating arrangement, because Justine Clark was driving it around the gravel roads of Silverton last night Anyway, I noticed last night it has an FB or EK bonnet mascot, which makes me suspect it might be a car we saw turn up at Grey Pride once. I have an idea the owner joined the NSW club, but only briefly. It didn't have the number plates then it has now, which are notably unusual in that they are original style plates, but don't start with a "B", so not original for an FC. I have a photo of that car from Grey Pride somewhere... cheers RET

General / General Board / Happy Belated Birthday to the Forum! 20 Years and still going strong
|
on: October 04, 2021, 01:29:43 PM
|
This forum was launched on 31 August 2001.
Phil Gray (an FE owner and former member of the FE-FC Holden Car Club of NSW), had a bulletin board running on the web space his ISP provided that had a small amount of traffic. He and I agreed it should be migrated to the fefcholden.org.au domain, and converted the existing posts to YaBB, and subsequently moved from YaBB to SMF. I can't even remember what the platform was that Phil was using, but if you look at the oldest pages on the boards, you'll see these ancient threads, and yet still recognise some familiar names.
It has been - and continues to be - an amazing resource for FE-FC Enthusiasts everywhere.
After 20 years, at current count, we have:
27,679 Threads 177,144 Posts 3,290 Members
.. which by anyone's reckoning is a massive collection of knowledge, artefacts, histories of restos and rebuilds, events and much more.
Whilst social media has come along and taken over the role of many bulletin boards, they still have a useful place. You simply do not find the camaraderie, willingness to assist strangers, and making of long-term friends on Facebook like we have here. Maybe part of that is that the forum has grown through the clubs that fund it, but it is also much more a community, and those that have posted - in many cases thousands of times over the years - have given freely of their knowledge to assist their fellow enthusiast.
Long may it continue!

Vern,
I believe the NSW Club still have couple of steel ones in the merch store. If it's not super-urgent, once things re-open we should be able to check and work something out to get it to you.
