Hi there Wasim, That's a really cool cruiser. I'm halfway through my project at the moment, and I'm curious as to what mods (if any) you had to do to fit the alloy wheels. Do you have the standard brake drums, or discs, or what? I'm at the crossroads as to what to do with mine. Cheers, Prof.
Hello Prof, no modifications to fit the wheels other than when balanced the 'stick on' weights had to be used as the older type that are pushed between the rim and tyre were rubbing against the tie rod (only very slightly) and I had to modify how the caps were attached to the wheels as on the front they hit the bearing cap covers.. The car has a 179 HP motor mated to the old grey 3 speed box and it has EH front and rear ends fitted with standards EH drums and a VH44 power booster. All seem to works fine. Regards, Wasim.

Well, I have finally done all I can to for the moment - early December the car goes back to spray painters for touch ups - then over Christmas I can put the rest of the chrome on and in January I'll try and get it registered. Regards, Wasim.

I had a good couple of days to get some of the last remaining items done. I bought a Speco 'wobbly' stick gear shifter and installed it, no issues went straight in and after some small adjustments works fine. You can see the brackets, which are attached to the gearbox, in this picture. Now that I have 3 forward and 1 reverse gear - what was I supposed to do? ? Drive the bloody thing for the first time around the block, a few times! I won't be putting the rest of the chrome etc on until the car has been back to the panel shop for some minor touch ups and a final cut and polish. I put the Tasmans on - I just love how they look especially on a black car - The 1960's are back! There are just have some minor 'electrical' gremlins to sort out and put the underlay, carpet and front seat in next weekend. Cheers, Wasim

Thanks Pete, the bailey channels are all clear - without the winder in, I can push the glass all the way up and the rubber seal sits flush in the door?
I know the FB / EK glass is shorter - I don't think I have FB / EK glass, the glass is the same ones that came out of the car and went off to be polished - don't know if the polisher had a FB / EK job going through the same time as mine?

HELP PLEASE?
I've put the glass in all the doors - fronts are perfect - but the back windows don't wind all the way up?
They're about an inch short of going all the way up and when I put my hand up inside the doors there is still a good inch of glass before the rubber seal even engages???
Any clues?
Thanks, Wasim

That's just a cut down seat that is not bolted in - I just use it when I want to drive the car in and out of the shed. You can see the black and white bench seat in the back of the grey ute in some of the pictures that I will be using.

Still having trouble finding 1st and reverse with the floor shifter - just more mucking around needed. Not far from finished now! Regards, Wasim

Technical Board / General Technical / Clutch slave cylinder problem
|
on: December 22, 2012, 08:15:29 PM
|
I replaced both the slave and master clutch cylinders , bleed the system, tested it (went around the block several times) and everything worked fine.
Then I said to to the Mrs ""come on lets go and get an icecream"" - I convinced her to go in the ute I'd just repaired?
Well 500 meters up the road the clutch pedal went straight to floor and the piston in the slave cylinder has almost popped out and all the fluid drained out!
Needless to say the Mrs stormed off muttering something about - "I knew I shouldn't have got into that bloody thing" (haven't seen her since).
Any clues to what I have done wrong with the clutch? (please no advise on how to calm the Mrs down)
Wasim.
