That's heavy consumption Fred. About the same as I get in my 3 tonne square box landcruiser with the front hubs locked in..

scored some MSD coil packs and new plug leads at a swap. Will put new plugs in also. Will a K&N high flow air filter make a difference? Car has a Daihatsu applause air filter box and cold air is picked up from outside of engine bay. Air filter is 1/3 smaller than a STD commodore. Gone of topic now oh well.

Fred, the small air filter might be your problem. The engine may simply be not getting enough air. I would have expected the consumption to be in the 8's or at least low 9's, which is easily achievable consumption in a Commodore which is a few hundred kilos heavier than an FC
