Thanks all for the comments.I did try Pete's method by taking the valve out, letting them right down then tapping them into place with the palm of my hand and got them all nice again but I think Scott has the answer.I told the tyre place not to use soap when fitting them (I also left the instructions with them) and they didn't use any extra soap but they didn't clean off the stuff that was already on them so I reckon that's why they keep slipping.Anyway, they still look good and I didn't hear any bad comments on the day, they look good while driving. Here's a couple more from the day....

My Atlas flappers arrived during the week so I got them fitted up by the local tyre place who gave them back to me with a half inch gap in some spots on all of them and also threw away my vintage style knurled steel valve caps and put plastic ones on!When I got home I read the instructions, let the tyres down to 18 PSI then gently tapped them around with a rubber mallet and a cloth and got them almost perfect.I then took the car for a drive and when I got home I noticed that most of them are almost back to a quarter inch gap.Is there any way of keeping them tight against the tyre or is this a fairly normal scenario? They look great from a distance. All cleaned up and ready for GM day tomorrow.Cheers,Jamie.

It's on again tonight at 10.30.If you watch at the start you will see a guy wearing a black T-Shirt and blue shorts drinking a can of coke almost following Brenton. That clown was me!I was thinking to myself "who the hell is this guy talking to?" totally oblivious to the camera way up ahead.... This exact scam happened to me on my first Gumtree ad last year.Scammers said they would pay $800 shipping cost but I had to pay $400 to western union first.Went to cop station to ask them as I'd never heard of this before and they said the scammers use Western Union as there is no paper trail.Lesson learned.Jamie.

I did the ID tag details when I got it 6 years ago as Jim has just done and comes back as being manufactured some time in 1958.Can't be specific since there's no motor.Cheers,Jamie

Nice Pete, don't bother getting the the diff shortened.Just jack it up 4 inches and radius the guards so the wheels can poke out the sides just like they did in the 70's/80's!!! Tongue Grin

Hi all,due to lack of funds and many NON car related projects needed around the house I have put my FC up for sale. This is the one I was originally going to put the twin turbo V6 engine in before the Black FC came along (not to mention two kids and a new house). It is also listed on Gumtree.Body and panels have been sand blasted and has had 98% of the body rust taken out and repaired.Has 4 New floor pans,CRS transmission tunnel,New Y frames (subframe is in excellent condition,no rust),new rear lower quarters, spare wheel well repaired, sills have had patches where needed and also has new crossmember sections. Most of these sections still had Rare Spares stickers on them from when they were installed and some of these parts are no longer available.Doors and guards need repair sections and panel work as there are some minor bumps and bruises here and there. This car was not complete when I bought it and does not have a motor/gearbox,door trims, seats, headlining or front quarter vent windows and is missing some other small bits and pieces. It was a rolling body when I bought it but I brought it out of storage about 6 months ago and stripped it again, put it on the rotisserie and tidied up some of the repairs that were done prior and repaired some of the rust that had not been done. Many have wondered why I bothered but I just couldn't leave it the way it was as it had a rusted out cowel vent channel which I rebuilt from scratch and a piece had been cut from the subframe and not finished (which I also rebuilt from scratch)amongst other things.Comes with all the chrome that I bought it with. Also has a Nasco steering lock (unlocked and no key, although someone mentioned it may be able to be re-keyed?).Reply here or PM me for more info if interested.Cheers,Jamie.
