Title: New Member Introduction
Post by: HoldenFE on July 15, 2016, 05:57:10 PM
Good afternoon,

My name is David Russell, live in Narre Warren Sth and I recently joined the FE / FC car club (Vic).

I have an FE Holden that my Dad purchased new in November 1957. He died in 1964 aged 39 of cancer and l was 9 at the time.

Mum got her drivers licence in 1965 and the car has always been garaged but still got the good old rust problems, however the interior is still original and looks very good. I fixed the rust and resprayed the car back in 1982.

The car has never been in an accident and it has traveled around 82,000 miles. The engine is unfortunately is not the original as a neighbour fitted a short motor back in the late 60's due to internal engine damage.

Currently replacing brakes, radiator, water pump, brake lines and various rubber parts as well as new door cards etc.

Car details are:
NO:   FE-225-11002-M
TRIM:    6-703
PAINT: 256-7449

(I will post some photos soon when l can work it out)

I look forward to meeting you.

Regards,
David

Hi Graham,
The paint is not original. I did a TAFE course back in the late seventies and resprayed it in 1982.
The original colour was Cabot Grey but l resprayed it white as l didn't like the original colour. I am going to spray the roof red shortly to match the interior red.
Cheers,
David

Hi David from a fellow newbie. Don't be afraid to ask questions, Ive asked every dumb question known to man and they still have the patience of a saint and always get back to me with an answer even a dumb bugger like myself can understand.
