Sorry RET , I know it's not an FE or FC but I thought it might be interesting

i looked at a pic recently that looked left hand drive and was told its from not reversing the negative from mirror image of camera lens or something like that

Hi.
I think some of the cars were actually left hand drive. I know what you mean, Nicko, I have seen that myself. But, I have one picture at home somewhere, of an FB or EK Canadian Hell driver, that is in a LH drive car. All thr writing is correct, so it isn't the reversed negative. But then again, the shot of the EH has the number plate blurred, so it could well be.

Hi Guyzz
     Couple of us were talking about this in the chatroom the other night , apparently some models from FB - HR were exported in LHD ,an HR was listed in Hawaii ? ? (I think) "for  sale" , the EH in the program DEFINATELY looks LHD , but when they came to Young I'm pretty sure all the cars were RHD . Dad & I were talking to one of the Canadians after the show , his was RHD cos I was sitting in it. the others ? ? ? ?

Certainly GM-H produced FB-HR vehicles in LHD, this is well documented.  I'm not sure OTTOMH when they stopped making left-hook cars, but I think it was in the 70s, HJ/HX-ish.

You have to wonder how many times one of those things could cope with being shot out of a cannon before its arse collapsed.  Maybe they were a mixture of LHD and RHD depending on what they could get from Holden when they needed new vehicles...  I would imagine them having a preference for LHD if they could get it, but that's just speculation.

Hi Guys.

GM-H made Holdens in LHD from FB to HG & Also LC to LX Torana & Now again in VX/VY/VZ Commodore, Monaro & Statesman etc.

The interesting thing about these EH Hell Drivers' cars is that they were produced as RHD & some were very roughly converted to LHD by just moving the steering & pedals across. The instruments etc stayed as is !!

I think they were converted because the stunt drivers were used to driving LHD cars, they were Canadian. There was an LJ Torana that drove around Bathurst on 2 wheels as a pre-race demo for the Bathurst 500 in 72 or 73, it was also LHD.

Also another point is that these EHs were 1963 '179' manuals, that's right, they were S4s.

Hi Guys,
Yes Terry's correct. For any of you that have the Greg Norman Holden 50th Anniversary video, there's a segment on the EH Canadian Hell Drivers. You can see clearly that one of the cars is LHD. If you watch it in slow-motion or frame by frame you can see the steering column poking out under the glovebox, and the instruments still on the RH side, as Terry said. Very interesting stuff.

And yes, they were 179 manuals in '63, so they must have been S4's. Where are they now???

As I'm an EH Owner as well as an FC Owner, this subject is quite interesting to me. Great pictures Norm!
