ED,
You should have Holden seals,as the diff housing more than likely will have the Holden tubes welded into it to suit the axles and brake asm's.

Here's the story....

Victor sold the car back in 1983 (approx) when it was 'Candy Apple Red' to Mark Dickinson minus the motor and transmission. He then painted it flat black as is indicated here. Marh then apparently put a 350 Chev in it and according to Victor, it ran a 12.5 quarter.

It's been seen since and is painted back in the 'purple' colour that was on it when Victor originally purchased it for $5.

Correct, and I have been told by others that it is in the Cranbourne are now ??

Yes,can be done by yourself, but hardly worth the trouble, especially if your cylinder needs reco as well.

Hi Alex,
It is the early version of the water 'ingress' inspection procedure, the second shot is of the blowers used to dry the car afterwards.

It is still done today, but the equipment is a bit more sophisticated and a lot higher pressures...

Hi Alex,
They are from the Proving Ground. Those 'lookouts' are still there today. The trees are a bit higher these days that's all..

Bill Patterson used to race back then,so I guess it would be one of his cars, maybe a cooper or something like that ??

Ken,
Here are the plates from the new project and one from the wrecked out sedan I guess ? Was in a box of parts !

Are they of any interest,or just run of the mill stuff ?

17  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Brakes and wheels - V8 project on: May 25, 2006, 09:29:48 AM
Yes you are correct, the rotor needs to spigot off the axle centre. An interference 'ring' would be fine.
It is common practice to do that on VT commodore front rotors to retrofit to earlier commodore hubs.

18  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: fuel system on: May 25, 2006, 09:21:57 AM
About 12 years ago,I did some work on a 4/71 blown red motor (192 I think ) with twin 1 3/4 or 2" SU's in a 48 215... and I can tell you it was a nightmare to try and keep running with those carbs !!
Could not get it off idle, and into the powerband ! as I remember the SU's do not have a normal 'accelerator' pump deal making it nearly impossible to pull fuel through the blower. Never got to the end of it,and I informed the owner to go to a holley ..

19  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Brakes and wheels - V8 project on: May 22, 2006, 06:22:04 AM
There is 1mm difference between commodore and HQ PCD's.
So that makes it.05mm per side of the pcd, hence wheels and rotors will interchange.. Maybe not quite right but has worked for many years now...

20  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Late 5.0L block numbers? on: May 02, 2006, 01:34:24 AM
HSV VR  GTS 215kW was the first 5.7L,and they have always been Harrop cranks until the last at VT 220 kW model.

All these blocks since VR have clearance for the crank.

Cheers
