Hi everyone
A simple question
What to use an oil bath air filter or later type with the long snout and paper element ?
Cheers

Paper element type. They are more effective. The oil baths look cool (and are more correct on earlier engines) but are not as good at removing crap.

IMHO the paper element filter fitted from late 59 onwards is far better to use unless you’re trying to achieve 100% stock. The oil filled unit is messy and way too easy to spill oil out of when you remove it too quickly and tilt it just a fraction too much.
I did once make an oil filled unit into a paper filter by cutting out the mesh section, so that is a possibility as well.

Thanks guys
I like to look and the correct period is a bonus
Oil leaks are frustrating enough don’t need to add more
The cut out conversion sounds like a good option
Thanks for the info
Cheers
