121  General / General Board / Re: Monroe Shocks on: October 13, 2018, 09:27:51 AM
Well now I feel really stupid!! I just realised the problem is NOT incorrect shocks but incorrect front end. I have rebuilt an EJ cross member for the larger brakes. BUGGER for anyone else doing the same, remember to order parts for EJ NOT FC.

122  General / General Board / Monroe Shocks on: October 13, 2018, 09:12:42 AM
Hi all, just found out the hard way that the front shocks listed by Monroe for the FE/FC are incorrect. Their part number is 15-0096 which have a threaded rod at the bottom of the barrel NOT the ring. In checking their web site the correct shocks are listed for FB on with the part number 15-3146.

124  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Very reluctant sale—MY FC Rebuild on: September 25, 2018, 12:44:22 AM
Due to health issues with myself and my wife, I have made the decision to sell the FC. All the details of the build are on the project site under MY FC Rebuild. The car is 90% finished and has all the hard work done, although the outer sills need to be redone ( have NOS sills ). I have new 15x7 Performance PW100 mags and the engine has just been rebuilt. I am in the middle of rebuilding EJ front and rear ends with new bearings, bushes and seals as well as machined drums with shoes to suit. Also new wheel cylinders and flexible brake lines.
Looking for $15,000.00
For more information pm or call041963293

126  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Dress ring /hubcap tool on: August 31, 2018, 05:51:38 PM
There was a wheel brace ages ago that had a bent hook on one arm to remove the hubcap, a rubber buffer on another and the socket on the third while the opposite end was plain so you could spin the brace.

Back on home soil, have the engine back together just need to rebuild the cross member and fit it into the subframe so I can fit the engine and gear box in place to set up the header pipes. Have them bent up now it’s a matter of getting them in the correct position to clear the mounts and gearbox. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks guy’s I’m cleaning up the 3.55 diff as well as putting new bearings and seals on the axels. Also in the process of overhauling the front cross member with new bushes, seals and rubbers.

130  Technical Board / Modification Help / Diff Ratio on: August 05, 2018, 10:58:41 AM
I’m putting the front and rear ends together for the FC and just wanted suggestions on what diff centre to fit. The car will be running a warm grey with triple strommies, headers, mild cam and 2” exhaust with standard gearbox and EJ front and rear ends. It will be rolling on 15x7 mags with either 205 or 215 tyres. I have the standard diff as well as a 3.55 and a 3.36. Will be used mostly for cruising suburbs and highways.
Thanks in advance,
Jim

I would ask them if they faced the flywheel when they replaced the clutch, did they do the clutch & pressure plate or just the clutch? The shuddering could be from the flywheel being glazed or warped.

Glad to see it went to a good home, looks right at home under there, any issues or did it bolt straight in.

Picked up the engine this morning all finished ready to put back together. Everything’s in good order, no cracks or damage so nowI can begin the rebuild. Was told by the guy that did the work that the pistons & rings I bought are 3-1/16 plus 60 so I now have a 3-3/16 bore, so with the head work, the triples & the cam it should be a good performer. I’ll post some photos and a video when I have it running.

Hi Ray, I have a pair of armrests in very good condition in red if they are any use to you. I’ll be back home on the 13th so I can take some photos for you if you are interested.

I have finally found an engine reconditioner that will do the right thing and not rip you off. He was recommended by a customer off mine who has had work done by him in the past. So I have pulled the motor apart and will be dropping it off this afternoon so he can check it out.
All being well, it will be cleaned & tested, bored +60, new bearing & brass welch plugs. Head will get 202 valves, hardened seats and stronger springs. Hopefully it will be ready when we get back from our cruise, so I’ll post the results when we return.

Hey Richo, Diecast wizards are still going, they call themselves Wizard Classic Chrome in Queensland. Their add says they specialise in doing old diecast. Might give them a call after Easter about getting some of my bits done.
