I have made the decision to fit a 5sp celica alloy case box to my FE
I recieved with a home made grey motor adaptor.

It came from a FJ ute and the shifter cleared his bench seat it also came with tailshaft and clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, speedo cable

So how much needs to be chopped out of the tunnel to fit it in ?

Really dont want to cut the floor but really dont like flogging the old grey down the freeway especially when the caravans loaded on the back.

I think a 5sp box will make it more useable and friendly especially towing..

Pete, there is a good article on the FB-EK forum on this, it looks like he had too do a fair bit of cutting on the floor for the box too fit.

Pete, I had a 1600cc split case box in an FC which is a slightly smaller box than the 2000 cc alloy case box you probably have. I had to split the floor from the inspection cover to the back of the box and insert a strip to get it to sit up at the right height.

Pete,
I fitted a cast iron Celica 5 speed into my FE without cutting out the floor!
This was started in 1973 to fit a RT104 box (main box same as Celica) behind a 202. In 2006 I changed to Celica 5 speed.
Engine sits slightly lower, clearances are tight, and now fully 'Engineered'
Bench front seat visually std, and adjustable.
