Congratulations Brad, it looks good 8)

It must have done some work, I've never seen an early Holden with that much paint worn off the inside top of a back door before.

Cheers

Thanks John
It looks like someone started stripping it back hence why it appears patchy and worn.
It has been shedded since 1982 according to last owner and the rego sticker

Yes, if you want trimming Glenn is very good. Sorry I thought you were wanting to fix the seat mechanism.

I too can vouch for Glenn's work, When I saw what he did to Dean's (Smithy 59) car I asked him to do my upholstery too.

Although I haven't got it yet, the price is very competitive, and I am looking forward to getting the finished product which I am sure will be first class, if Deans' is anything to go by.

Just need respringing by the sound of it any motor trimmer should be able to perform this task ...OR you could go buy some springs and have a go not that hard to do once seat cover and padding is removed ......FC427......

Last I heard Glenn was really busy and can't take any new work for a month or three :P but he does have some springs from an FB/EK seat that he is wrecking, you can also buy the "zig-zag" springs on a roll (which he has also) but they are a smaller profile to the original and a bugger to bend to shape.

Robin - is that the complete set or are there still one or two more gaps?

Good things come to those who wait....

I think that robin still needs the ambulance and the police car  :)

Yes it is the complete set, FE and FC 215, 217, 219, 225, 229, 2104 and 2106, plus a few spares, although they aren't all quite as they were when they left the factory and they are not all goers, yet. I like to keep the character of them if it suits the period. The van has side windows and a tilly type kit and is painted in 3 colours.

Stewy is right, I don't have an ambulance or police car, but my aim was one of each of the models. If it had a special use like the taxi or army car, that was a bonus. I would really like a PMG van as I used to work for Telecom/Telstra for almost 21 years and my brother worked for PMG/Telecom/Telstra for almost 40 years, but these are really hard to find and I am happy to have the cars I've got, but you never know what might turn up.

All I have seen is a black and white thumbnail picture myself. The van is still coming over here so you, all, like me, will have to wait.

Sorry,

 Robin

Hey Brad

I'm a little bit behind the times and have only just read this post.

Quote
It must have done some work, I've never seen an early Holden with that much paint worn off the inside top of a back door before.

The pic takes me back to 1954/55 when my old man was a newsagent delivering papers.  The wear pattern on that back door looks just like what was on his car.  I can see one guy driving and the other sitting in the back seat with a mountain of rolled-up papers beside him, tossing them out the window.  And if the seat springing is stuffed, particularly in L.H.R passenger seat, my theory might hold up. (If it was a business sedan I'd put money on it - but I don't think business sedans saw a life into 1959.)

Thanks Brad, Early November 1959 built in Adelaide. The grey or silver dash was added to liven up the interior a bit. Most single tone cars have a second colour inside.

Any thoughts?

Sorry for the late reply Martin.
But the rear seat is quite good considering,so your theory of the paper round may or may not be correct.
Cheers

Yes trim number should be 4-638, not 374-638. It may have been stamped wrongly - if so, I would like a photo to keep in my file. :)
