For anyone heading out to the event, look out for an all yellow Mini (probably #88) in the MINI Challenge races.

Fast Eddie shall actually be trying to live up to the name.

If you need a better excuse to turn up than to watch me flounder at the back of the pack, there is a big field of Group A & Group C cars on the ticket.

Apparently there is also some sort of V8 Supercar race on as well...

Regards

Fast Eddie

Yeh, how'd you go?
Heard there was a fairly big stack, hope you weren't involved.

I had a fine time. The fans were out in force (both of them, Emily and Edward Jnr) the signwriters had done a great job, and it was all up to me.

I was pretty happy with my qualifying time (whilst in car) as it was a couple of seconds faster than in practice. Back at the pits I found everyone was also happy with their qualifying times... I found myself 16th on the grid ...out of 17!

Race 1 started well, and I charged through the pack int he first few laps, and had got up to P11 or 12.

I came onto the main straight well, and nosed my way alongside the guy in front for a drag race down the straight.

Approaching turn 1, most would have pulled back and tucked in for a inside run into turn 2. Not Fast Eddie!

In a move that surprised even the most seasoned of professionals, I decided to go around the outside at turn 1.

The rest is best described in pictures...

Went in a little hot through turn 1 (the kink)...the tail started to wag...I had it, I lost it, I had it...

Then I lost it...

Headed for the sand trap, slowing down nicely...

A little deeper...

Until, a gentle stop...

Some helpful locals came to my aid...

And I gracefully exited the vehicle

The big accident was in Race 2. Justin walked away though.

I had to sit that one out when a coolant line blew off on the out lap. Very frustrating.

Bugga - for both races.

You still would have been spitting dirt by the start of number 2, wouldn't you?

Maybe you can use that as your excuse.

Better luck next time.

At least the pics are good.

Are those pics stills from TV coverage or were they stills from one of your "fans" cameras?

I'm not sure who took the photos - they were provided to me by the Mini promotions staff.
