61  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: seat belts on: August 10, 2019, 10:03:51 AM
Hi Guys,  Have been away in uk for a few months back recently and thinking about fitting lap sash seat belts in the ute wife would be a lot happier when we go for a run. ( appreciate it’s a slightly different scenario from Vern’s)
Noticed the above thread posted by Vern about placement of bolts through pillar ( don’t like the thought of drilling the pillar) what about locating the top bolt behind the seat around the junction of the parcel shelf, door pillar area? Lifted up the parcel linning and had a look it looks like the area could be utilised and you would have a chance of locating a large washer from inside the ute tray after drilling bolt holes. Any thoughts ? may have already been done by a ute owner !
Also a post script. I posted a thread about fuel level in fuel pump a few months back got some great advise and followed up but alas still had problems!!!
Eventually found problem !! fuel needle in guage, when it shows three quarter full the tank is actually nearly empty. When you fill her up the needle goes way beyond the f for full. Maybe I can alter/bend fuel sender arm in fuel tank.
Cheers Peter

Thank you all for the suggestions and tips I’m sure I would have had a very frustrating time diagnosing the problem alone ! if at all. What a massive difference this forum makes makes.
Peter.
63  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Petrol level in fuel pump glass bowl. on: April 23, 2019, 10:06:28 PM
Hi guys and thanks Harv for the extra input.
Over the weekend I check for fuel leaks back to the tank and couldn’t find any I took it for several drives both long and short and each time I got back home noted that the bowl was nearly full with the engine running but upon turning the engine off I noticed a fine stream of bubbles coming up from inside the base of the glass and the fuel level in the bowl reducing to around the guaze filter or lower , so Rob I think you were right the bowl gasket is leaking air into the bowl and I think some fuel is running back into the tank? The day it stalled I was parked facing uphill and it only ran for about 30 second probably what was in the carby.
Can someone give me a lead as to where I might be able to purchase a replacement o ring /gasket for the base of the fuel bowl.
Cheers Peter

Thank you Rob and Errol62 for the information and troubleshooting advise I’m going out to the garage to have a fiddle around and see what I can find. Went for a short drive this morning ( it didn’t stall) and looked at the bowl as soon as I got back and it was about a third full but after a few minutes the level came up to just over the guaze filter.
The car came with a rebuilt spare fuel pump so I’ve got that if I need it.
Thanks again
Peter

Hi guys after driving the ute around for and hour or so yesterday she just stalled.
I got out and noticed the level in the fuel bowl was a bit lower than the mesh guaze filter I left it for half an hour and the level came up to around flush with the guaze so I guess some petrol filtered through because it started and I drove it home. The fuel level now is just over the guaze ! Can somebody tell me if the fuel bowl should be completely full? My manual doesn’t say.
Cheers Snoop

Hi John,
Thanks for reply, the base part of the stud that you attach onto the body is about 12 mm diameter and the top part that you push on is about 15mm diameter.
Thanks
Peter.

Hi guys looking for a couple of press stud clips I have one missing on my tonneau cover. If anyone has some original ones they would like to sell please let me know. Not worried if they are a bit worn they will match. After both parts of the clip.

Hi guys just noticed the questions re posting images !! one of my sons downloaded the Tapatalk app onto my iPad and linked it for me to the fc fe Holden forum so now if I want to post pic onto forum I just open the Tapatalk app on the iPad take a pic or chose from photo library and post. The format of the forum is a bit different on the app but I managed to negotiate it ok I think. Vern the lights had a partial Chrome cover on them when I got the car don’t know what there function is but I just left them on.

Thanks Guys for all the nice comments about the ute it’s not perfect but it’s not too bad either.
It’s an fe with a nice fc grill and blinkers. I was going to make it all fe if I could find a suitable grill, blinkers and I guess mudguards but the current combination has really grown on me so I’ll leave it for now. I also have a set of nice fc commercial guard spears and also a set of fe (Holden )running writing guard badges to fit really like the fe ones so I’ll put them on (just to make it more confusing). Did notice when you hold the two different model types together that the fixing posts are at the same centres so I could change them around. Just need to track down the little fixing clips that from memory just push on from inside the guard.
Cheers Peter

Hi. if you can think of it like his. the forum is not at home it on a server else where let’s say overseas. Your photos are at home and what you need to do is get them to another location which is connected to that overseas location. lot of people use Tapatalk which uses your phone as the location connector.  I use imgur as that connector and there are a lot of other ways.

I hope I have not confused you.

Hi guys went to super cheap got the trim remover kit( 5 pieces in the kit) also brought the circlip tool to remove interior door handles (brilliant they all worked well) had a little trouble getting one handle off on closer inspection noticed Taiwan imprint underneath ! the detent for the circlip isn’t as close to the back of the handle as the genuine Holden handle had to compress foam in door card as I pushed sideways guess that was a aftermarket handle anyway scratch plates fitted perfectly. Vacuumed out inner doors whilst trims off (no rust) fishoiled everthing lubricated all lock and winding mechanisms put it all back together (beautiful).
Thanks again guys for all info and tips the forum is a wealth of information.
Cheers Peter

Thanks John for the pics and expertise ill have a go at making the tool.Vern i got the scratch plates after ringing a guy i meet a few years ago when he was selling his fc,s (age was catching up and his health was not the best) he had a lot of parts so i rang him the other day to see if he had any left he invited me up to look he still had a fair bit of really nice stuff that he is finally letting go.Purchased a few parts some nos he only had two plates both second hand but in good nic. He said he would advertise the rest soon.I will be very careful Harv. Just one other thing the door cards do i just start at one corner maybe get a steel ruler behind and gently lever and pull the door card at the same time?
cheers and thanks
Peter
78  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Door handle scratch plates on: February 19, 2019, 09:59:36 PM
Hi guys purchased some original scratch plates for the ute looks like the small tabs on each side of the plate fit under the door handle so I guess you have to loosen the door handles a little and slide them down into place maybe a dab of sicaflex as well?
Other question is I assume I’ll need a special tool of some description to remove door card and window winder etc to get at Handle retaining screws or nuts. Any advise on the above appreciated.
Cheers Snoop.
