Hi guys and gals
What's the best way to set the tappets from scratch, rebuilding for very first time.
remember many a year ago when i was a lot younger back in pommie land with the 4 cylinder motor if number 1 was open set say number 5,is it the same for the grey motor.
Hope someone can help.
Cheers

Yes. it is the same. Your firing order is 153624. If your setting #1, rockers on #6 should be free as well. And you keep following the sequence. For #2, #5 should be free. #3, #4 should be free. And so on. This way you know the rockers you are doing are off the cam. Another way to look at it, 1&6, 2&5, 3&4 are the pairs. If you're on one half of the pair, the other half of the pair should be off the cam.

there was a good article of doing 202's on the net. I found if you tighten them too tight then the values are stuck open and the engine will not start. Just tighten so the push rods just turn. Put alot of oil there is you have removed them to stop wear. Then start and adjust in order. Then start again wait till hot and adjust again. Also ensure you put the additive in the fuel if required and this will remove any tapping.
