this pic shows how surferboy has used radio grilles as speaker covers...and how they aren't in the way of his foot on the accelerator......and Emu, a bit of a better pic of the gauges....there wasn't quite enough light for my old camera at Tues' meeting.....

Hi team,

as secretary of the WA club, can I just advise that we did indeed make heavy use of the NSW club constitution and various other pro-formas and documents in setting up our club so as to not re-invent the wheel.

also, we HAVE had correspondence from the ACT club formally inviting our club members to attend....for which we thank them very much!!  So much, in fact, that a few of us are driving or flying over to attend.

.......see you in the snowies!!!......

Is Laverton anywhere near Denmark?

Ken,

short answer is no......

Laverton is about 350 Km north-northeast of Kalgoorlie toward the centre....... and Denmark is about 50 Km west of Albany on the south coast...about the same as distance between Melb and Pt Augusta....

An EK I bought recently was named Bev because it was purchased from a WA country town named Beverley, just south of York.  Name seemed to fit at the time, the car is mauve, it was for my daughter to drive etc etc...

Jonesy,

tell me more about re-graphing the electronic distributor please...

I have these on each of my FC's and suffer some pinging under certain loads....

how do they determine what the advance profile needs to be to suit the engine/head/cam/carb setup you might have......?

very interesting...and relatively cheap too, it seems....

Is rare spares the best/only place to get these - in WA?

Burnsy,

I managed to get the HR spring pad rubbers from Holden dealer (Rockingham) and Coventry's (Mandurah)... there's still some of these lurking in the 'burbs....  they were only $6 a piece last year....

91  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Fuel Gauge Inaccuracy on: June 11, 2004, 12:57:38 PM
Hi Josh,

me too....I had the dash panel off for speedo repairs and must've loosened the wire on one of the terminals on the gauge back.

a fuel gauge that worked perfectly, all of a sudden did the same sort of thing that you describe.

when I put the repaired speedo back in, I undid the nuts on the terminals of the gauge, cleaned them and re did them....and it came back to working properly...

never had a problem with the sender unit...though I know many do......

Hi Mike, Blacky,

we are having an AGM that hopefully will start at 7:00 and conclude fairly quickly, then pizzas.....then ordinary meeting.....I'd be very surprised if we were outta there before 9:00 Mike....if you feel like dropping by on your way home, go for it.....

Blacky, if you're in town and want to come along give us a call on 9419 9690 (wk) or 9592 8161 (hm) and we'll help you out....

cheers......Brad
93  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Deleting 1/4 vents on: June 03, 2004, 12:48:04 PM
Miikael,

it is apparently quite common for restorers who are not interested in having 1/4 vents to replace the moveable window with a fixed triangle of glass in a rubber seal between the division channel and the door frame.  I think Mark Bone (Mandurah) has done this to some of his FC's.

A starting place for a seal would be the one from the back door fixed window pane, but length may be a bit different, not sure.....but something could be made to fit it....

Mike,

we'll be there about 6:45...

complication is that it is our AGM, but it shouldn't take too long...you can sit through that or turn up a bit later...your choice.....

club rooms are in E Vic Park, off Hillview Tce in Fred Bell Pde, where the RSL hall is.....

my green/white FC should be there, barring the unthinkable...haha

Mike,

it was a lady from south of Mandurah who used to do it for a living, then she did it as a hobby, but now she's had to give it away as the fumes from the adhesives were causing her health problems.....shame really, cause I'd get her to do the work again some time when I needed, I was very happy with the work and the price...

are you thinking of coming along to the meeting on Tues 8/6?

Mike,

I bought Klippan inertia reel ones with the long stalk for fitting to my FC.  They work well, the buckles protrude a bit above the seat but it makes them easy to find and insert the belt one handed.  See pic...

The length of the stalk is about 400mm, not the longest ones but they allow for almost full movement of the seat adjustment back/forward....if placed correctly on installation.

99  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Twin Carbs & Auto Linkages - EK on: May 19, 2004, 01:57:17 AM
what Nige says is correct

I ran my 202/powerglide without kickdown linkage for a few weeks until I could mount the pin in the manifold for the linkage to hinge on....basically went to top gear straight away as it "senses" that you're not accelerating without the linkage....also, won't kick down for passing....you can manually do so with the lever though......

so, you probably will want to re-jig the linkage around the new carbies and extractors  if you install them.....
