does anyone know whats involved in fitting a LX -LH Torana rack and pinion to HR crossmember in an FC?

Ed

bugger all really.. nip up the 2 bolts.

im assuming u have suitable shortened rack and re shaped steering arms, available from usual places.

2 rack mounts made from RHS can be welded on front of x member, line up your pivots and steering knuckles and zap into place, then bolt it on.

little notch in the top of the x member to allow steering rod to pass.

"sgo" has described this in detail elsewhere.

i think it was called the ABC of steering or something like that.

i did not know the rack had to be shortened,i always thought they used shorter steering arms

Ed

i always thought so?

u could measure the dist between pivots on the HR x member, and see if this is shorter than the rack on stock LH/X.

I have a good article on how to shorten a rack if interested... if only I knew this earlier.

You could also measure up racks off other R&P steeer cars, to see which others may suit.
