3D Printing of Components

Hi Team,

Son 2 has just purchased a 3D printer. He has printed up a few bits and pieces and they have come up well. I am thinking of trying to print the FC Grille Badge. I know that I can purchase one from Rare Spares if I sell off a couple of grandkids, but think it may be a useful project that others can benefit from down the track.

I have searched the web for STI files but can't find any. Does anyone have STI files they would be prepared to share/sell on, or have access to a 3D scanner that could create a file, or is a 3D CAD wiz that could create one.

I am playing with a 3D CAD program but am struggling to extrude the shapes. I am sure I will get there eventually but would love to fast track it.

Cheers

Craig ..Where I volunteer at Fagan Park we needed two kerosene bowls , which were originally copper on two carriage lanterns we wished to use ,the Dural mens shed made them for us on a 3D printer , absolutely brilliant ..plastic of course , but we never fill or light them ..I was not directly involved in that project ,aparently the guys there really know their stuff , I'll get you a contact number if you like ..Vern .
these days i'm half as good for twice as long

Thanks Vern,

I am plugging away trying to teach myself the 3D CAD. The version I started on was the free version of Solidworks, but it is an absolute pain to use. I am trying something different now that seems to align better with my CAD skills.

If anyone has one with dimensions I can work on that to produce something. I was thinking of doing the inner with a 5mm lip so I can paint the background red and the lion gold and black or silver and black and then seal it wtih clear resin. Got to keep my evenings filled somehow. Slow burner task - the ute will run without it.

I am struggling with the mud flaps project - I think because the originals I have been loaned are a little hard and aged. I will get there though.
