September 2026 Near-Death Experience for The Forum

Hi Everyone,

You may have noticed the forum was down for an extended period. This was due to an issue with back-end software managed by the hosting company, and eventually there was nothing for it but to perform a full upgrade of the Forum's software package, to bring its version up to a version compatible with our host. (This is probably long overdue, the version the forum was running was pretty ancient.)

So you'll notice that it looks a bit different, but as far as I can tell all the basic functionality is there. The old forum had a lot of bespoke customisation added - most of which I've long forgotten! - although hopefully a lot of those features are standard in this new edition.

Anyway, there are likely to be more issues, so please reply to this thread if you discover them.
